Friday 6:30 – 9:00 pm:
Creating a Learner’s Mindset
Perhaps the most important component of any successful parenting strategy is the ability to bring “new thinking” to daily life with kids. Without it, the strategy, no matter how sound, will fail. Adopting the learner’s mindset allows parents to explore their own role in the issues facing their family, challenge old assumptions that influence parenting decisions and address myths and fears that chip away at parents’ confidence to lead with authority and with love. The evening session will lay the foundation for Saturday and allow you to create a specific roadmap that will guide your parenting journey through the weekend and beyond.
Saturday 8:00 am – 3:30 pm (with 1 hour for lunch):
Enhancing the Relationship and Fostering Independence
On Saturday you will be introduced to several new concepts that focus on enhancing the relationship you have with your children while fostering their independence. As a result of these concepts you will see an increase in cooperation, mutual respect, self-control and friendliness while you experience a decrease in power struggles, defiance, sassy attitudes and displays of apathetic disinterest.
Along with concepts you will add valuable and simple strategies to your parenting toolbox, aimed at addressing the most common family challenges including morning and evening routines, family meals, messy rooms and common areas, technology, sibling rivalry and homework.
You will learn how to create routines that take into account your child’s natural rhythms (think morning lark and night owl), that will keep the family humming along no matter what life throws your way. Along with routines you will learn how to set up and maintain clear boundaries and limitations that create an environment where freedom and order work hand in hand to bring harmony and ease to the family dynamics.
By the end of the day you will have created a Roadmap for Parenting that feels authentic to you, your values, your preference and the personalities of your family and secures your position as “leader of the pack” so you can guide your children from infancy to young adulthood.
